Information for models
at any photoshoot
The following advice is from stylist Stephane Dosko.
For women
2 days before the shoot
- Hair should be cut several days before the shoot.
- Have a manicure and pedicure, finish the nails with a clear
lacquer.
- For those with dark hair, check the sideburns, arms, legs,
bikini line and upper lip. Wax or bleach the hair.
- If you're going to be doing closeups (makeup shoots
especially) have a light facial to close the pores.
The day before the shoot
- Wash the hair. Do not wash the hair the day of the shoot,
it's easier to manage that way.
On the day
- Leave all jewelery home.
- Wear anti-perspirant, not deodorant which can stain the
clothes.
- Do not wear perfume which will also mark the clothes.
- Bring several pairs of shoes appropriate to the shoot.
- Bring several colours of underwear, especially a strapless
bra and g-string in black, white and flesh colour.
- Wear a button down shirt and sweat pants with no underwear
plus sneakers to the shoot. You may look terrible when you arrive but
there will be no marks and the stylist will soon have you looking
fabulous.
For men
2 days before the shoot
- Hair should be cut several days before the shoot.
- Have the finger and toenails done and trimmed square.
- If you're having closeups done get a light facial.
- Trim or shave the armpit hair if it shows when your arms
are down at your sides.
The day before the shoot
- Wash the hair the day before the shoot, not the day of the
shoot.
- Arrive the day of the shoot with a beard shadow and bring
your shaving kit and a towel so you can do either a clean and/or a
rugged look.
- Take off all rings and watches the day before to avoid
marks.
On the day
- Leave all jewelery home.
- Wear anti-perspirant, not deodorant which can stain the
clothes.
- Do not wear cologne which will also mark the clothes
- Bring several pairs and colours of shoes appropriate to the
shoot.
- Bring boxers and briefs in white, black and grey.
- Bring a short sleaved T-shirt with a round collar and a
ribbed (fitted) tank-top, both in white.
- Wear a loose shirt and/or sweats to the
shoot with sneakers.
